This session will address how addiction intersects with human trafficking; how drugs of addiction can hijack part of the brain that is set up to help us survive; and medications currently available for the treatment of addiction. Many victims experience substance use disorder – a trafficker might use substances as a method of control or victims may self-medicate. In some cases, substance use is a combination of both.
