In this presentation, participants will learn about labor trafficking and how it differs from labor exploitation. We will talk about the various types of labor trafficking, where it occurs, and the power and control tactics that traffickers use to force and coerce victims into trafficking situations. We will focus especially on undocumented youth and their particular vulnerabilities to labor trafficking. Lastly, participants will gain a better understanding of best practices for providing social and legal services to survivors of labor trafficking.
- Understand the difference between labor trafficking and labor exploitation (i.e., labor trafficking is at the top of the continuum of labor exploitation).
- Learn the indicators of labor trafficking.
- Gain a greater understanding of why immigrant and particularly undocumented youth are vulnerable to labor trafficking in the context of current immigration policies.
- Learn best practices for providing social and legal services to labor trafficking survivors.
